Batteries are a good way to store any excess energy generated from your solar panels. They can also be used to store cheap electricity (night rate) so you can use it during the day. A good example would be a battery storing off peak electricity to be used during the day – for example running a heat pump. You also have the advantage of still having electricity available – with the correct set up – if a power cut occurs.
